Two college students who were flagged down by police for a traffic violation ended up being arrested for a drug charge.

Alvic Dela Torre, 21, and Lester Ligas, 21, residents of Inabanga and Mabini, respectively, were apprehended in Tagbilaran City after they were allegedly caught in possession of shabu on Friday night.

In a report, police said that the duo was stopped by police for not wearing helmets while riding a motorcycle but sped away.

They were eventually cornered by pursuing authorities in Barangay Cogon, police said.

Ligas allegedly tried to evade arrest by jumping from the motorcycle but was immediately subdued.

Dela Torre and Ligas were allegedly in possession of one sachet of shabu each.

They admitted to being drug users but claimed that they were not into the sale of narcotics.

Both were taken into police custody and set to be charged with possession of illegal drugs. (wm)
