A 74-year-old man was killed after he was accidentally rammed by a coaster which was carrying 15 Chinese tourists along a national road in Alburquerque on Wednesday.
The fatality, identified as Samuel Dumagan of Barangay Tagbuane, Alburquerque was rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City but was declared dead on arrival, said Sr. Staff Sgt. Pedro Muring of the Albur Police Station.
Meanwhile, none of the Chinese nationals were injured.
According to Muring, Dumagan was crossing the road at past 12 noon when he was hit by the incoming coaster which was driven by one Miguel Reyes, 69.
Reyes claimed that Dumagan seemed confuse and was unsure if he was to proceed in crossing the street or not.
However, witnesses said that the coaster tried to overtake a motorcycle when it rammed Dumagan.
Reyes has been placed under the custody of the Albur police, said Muring.
He is set to be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide. (A. Doydora)
