Former Special Assistant to the President and now-Senator Christopher “Bong” Go is expected to arrive in Bohol on Tuesday morning to visit vendors of the fire-stricken Cogon Public Market in Tagbilaran City.
Go will be accompanied during the visit by Tagbilaran City officials led by Mayor Baba Yap, who is known to be close to the senator.
A City Hall official said that Go will be at the market compound at 11 a.m.
It will be Go’s first visit to Bohol after winning a seat at the Senate.
Go was last in the province on May 8 during the miting di avance of defeated gubernatorial candidate Leoncio Evasco Jr. in Garcia Hernandez which was attended by President Duterte and the then-senatorial bet.
The visit drew controversy as Go met with allies of Evasco’s opponent Governor Arthur Yap including Baba right before attending the Evasco coalition’s final campaign sortie.
On Wednesday last week, a fire razed at least 80 stalls spread across a large portion of the decades-old Cogon Public Market in Tagbilaran City.
No one was injured but property damage was estimated to be at P3 million. (rt)
