Bohol’s first resort with a strip mall, deemed a “leisure village,” is set to open this year, its developer Monorealty Inc. announced during a topping off ceremony on Saturday.
Manuel Mendoza, chairman of Monorealty, Inc., led the topping off ceremony of the Modala Beach Resort and the ceremonial turnover of spaces to Moadto Strip tenants at the sprawling 22-hectare property in Barangay Doljo, Panglao.
He was joined by Department of Tourism regional director Shalimar Tamano, Governor Arthur Yap, First District Rep. Edgar Chatto and Vice Governor Rene Relampagos.
According to Mendoza, the resort-cum-mall is expected to be completed within the year. Moadto Strip is eyed for completion in October while the soft opening of Modala Beach Resort is slated in December.
Monorealty tapped world-renowned resort architectural and interior design firm Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG) to design the establishment’s master plan.
The mix-used complex’s design was made to resemble a “typical vibrant Bohol village.”
For his part project architect Randal Lao said that the resort will have 126 rooms while the strip mall can cater up to 32 tenants.
The Buzz Café, Gerarda’s, Just Sizzling and Aproniana are set to occupy the ground floor of the mall.
Tamano, in his brief remarks, said that Bohol is poised to experience continued growth in tourism with the projected increase in tourist influx through the operation of the Bohol Panglao International Airport.
Both Chatto and Relampagos meanwhile thanked Mendoza for pouring his investment in Bohol.
