A 41-year-old man who was facing a frustrated homicide charge was shot dead along a national highway in Barangay Moto Sur, Loon on Thursday morning.
The victim, Ronel Bastida, a fisherman, had just attended a court hearing for his case in Tagbilaran City when was gunned down by three men on board a single motorcycle at past 11 a.m., said Corporal Jade Solon of the Loon Police Station.
Bastida, a resident of Canghagdon Occidental, Loon, was with his live-in partner Liza Talahang and had just alighted from a commuter bus when he was repeatedly shot.
Talahang was left unharmed by the gunmen.
Solon, based on witnesses’ statements, said that two of the three suspects shot Bastida.
Policr found spent bullet shells fired from 9mm and .45 caliber pistols at the crime scene.
Police probers meanwhile continued their investigation on the case to determine the motive and identities of the assailants. (A. Doydora)
