Boholano Yamyam named PBB ‘Big Winner’

Boholano “Yamyam” Gucong was named “Ultimate Big Winner” in the eighth and longest season of ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Big Brother on Sunday night.

Gucong who is a 25-year-old native of Inabanga won by gaining a whopping 59 percent of the text votes over the 30 percent, eight percent and three percent earned by the rest of the “Big Four,” Kiara Takahashi, Lou Yanong and Andre Brouillette, respectively.

Gucong, dubbed the “Iskulit Bai ng Bohol,” won P2 million and several other prizes from ABS-CBN and the show’s sponsors.   

In tears, Gucong emerged on stage and was met by his mother after being named Big Winner. He thanked his fans for the support.

“Napatunayan ko na kahit sa kahirapan kaya natin bumangon sa buhay…Maraming salamat dahil kasama ko si Kuya, si God, ang pamilya ka at kayong lahat,” he said.

Gucong, known to have been raised in poverty, endeared himself to the audience with his funny antics and jovial disposition.

After Gucong’s win, congratulatory messages from Bohol netizens poured in.

“Congrats Yamyam. Proud kaayo mi nimo nga taga Bohol,” said Juvele Aseniero.

Lee Mamaril Butanilan said “thank you so much Lord gidungog nimo among pag ampo nga si Yamyam ang mo Big Winner.”
