A 36-year-old man died of injuries sustained after the motorcycle he was driving fell into a cemented drainage ditch along a national road in Antequera town as he was about to go home from a birthday party on Saturday night.
Executive Master Sgt. Teodoro Arais identified the fatality as Junylou Robante, 36, of Can-omay, Antequera.
Robante was still rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City but was declared dead on arrival.
He suffered severe head injuries after he was thrown away from his motorcycle when he crashed.
According to Arais, Robante was already near his home when he crashed near a junction along a national highway in Barangay Danicop.
The victim was not wearing any headgear and was driving under the influence of alcohol, said Arais.
“Naka-inom to kay sa paglakaw pa kuno adto gikan, natumba unya ilang gipugngan unya ingon man kuno na kaya ra. Mao to nahitabo na jud,” he added.
Robante was alone during the incident and no one else was injured in the area. (AD)
