Police are eyeing revenge as motive behind the killing of a 42-year-old man, who was previously convicted of a robbery with homicide charge, more than a year after he was released from prison.
According to Lieutenant Rene Cerna of the Dagohoy Police Station, the fatal gun attack on Artemeo Dagupan, 42, may have been carried out as revenge for the crime he committed almost a decade ago.
“So far mao pa ni atong nakuha nga naay kaso ning tawhana, unya basin vengeance ba, mao ni atong developon og mao ba ni motibo g’yud,” he said.
Cerna however did not divulge further information on developments on the case so as not jeopardize their investigation.
Dagupan was shot dead inside his home in Barangay Sta. Cruz in Dagohoy at past 12 a.m. on Sunday.
Cerna said that no one witnessed the attack but neighbors of the victim told authorities that they heard gunshots.
Responding police officers found Dagupan sprawled on the floor of his house. The victim gunshot wounds in his head and body.
According to Cerna, crime scene investigators did not find any spent bullet casing in the area.
Daupan was released from prison last year after serving time at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
He was convicted of robbing and killing a habal-habal driver in Dagohoy. (A. Doydora with C. Remolador)
