Police intelligence officers of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) on Sunday afternoon seized shabu worth P10.2 million from a 46-year-old man tagged as a Level 2 High-Value Target in the police’s province-wide drug watch list.
The suspect, identified as Alan Ben Caberte of Barangay Cogon in Tagbilaran City, was arrested through a drug-buy bust at his two-story home which is suspected to be a drug bodega, said Captain Gereon Item who led the BPPO Provincial Intelligence Branch team which conducted the sting operation.
According to Item, Caberte arranged the shipment of drug supply to Tagbilaran City through transactions made with inmates at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
Item said that text messages found in Caberte’s mobile phone indicated that he is linked with inmates at the national penitentiary.
However, Caberte was newly identified as a high-level drug personality prior to his arrest.
His name only came up following the apprehension of one of his alleged drug dealers, Eva Marie N. Osiones, in Lindaville Phase I, Brgy. Tiptip earlier on the same day.
Osiones pinpointed Caberte as her drug source.
In a report, police said that Caberte sold shabu worth P100,000 to a poseur-buyer outside his residence.
He allegedly ran towards his home after noticing that he was subjected to a staged drug transaction.
Police however immediately cornered him inside the house where they allegedly found his multi-million peso drug stash which weighed 1.5 kilos.
Both Caberte and Osiones are now under police custody and are set to be charged with violations against Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (WM)
