A 45-year-old man was found dead with gunshot wounds inside his home in Ubay.
According to Corporal Erico Daigan, the lifeless body of Roy Basilad was found sprawled on the floor by his sister-in-law Riza Basilad at past 12 noon on Saturday.
Roy was believed to have been dead for over 12 hours when his remains were discovered inside his house in Barangay Humayhumay.
Daigan said that Riza heard what sounded like gunshots at past 10 p.m. on Friday but dismissed these as falling coconuts hitting the roof.
Meanwhile, scene of the crime operatives found spent shells fire from a .45 caliber pistol inside Roy’s home.
Roy sustained one gunshot wound in his chest and one in the right arm.
According to Daigan, they are eyeing revenge as possible motive behind the murder.
Information gathered by police indicated that Roy was suspected of intentionally puncturing wheels of motorcycles parked by fishermen outside his home.
“Kaning biktima mao pod ni suspek aning mga motor nga pangdunggabon ang ligid, mga tag iya ani mga mananagat nga ipangbilin ilang motor dapit aning bay sa biktima,” said Daigan.
“Naa pod kono ni gibunalan nga tawo sa ilang dapit,” he added.
In 2013, Roy was arrested for a gun possession charge. (A. Doydora)
