Operatives from the Alburquerque Police Station are tracking down the driver of a vehicle allegedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident in Alburquerque at dawn on Saturday.
According to Police Master Sgt. Dennis Bastes of the Albur Police Station, they are still trying to find footage from closed-circuit television cameras possibly mounted near the area of the incident in Barangay Tagbuane to identify and locate the vehicle and its driver.
The fatality identified as Rey Carumba of Barangay Inagbuhan, Pilar who sustained multiple injuries across his body was still rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City but was declared dead on arrival.
Bastes on Monday said that Carumba was a tricycle driver in Tagbilaran City and had just come from a drinking session in Alburquerque prior to the incident.
Carumba who appeared to have been drunk was seen sprawled on the road by one Jason Tuliran who reported the incident to police.
Tuliran however did not see the vehicle that hit Carumba as he told authorities that he only heard a thud during the impact.
“Nag-zigzag kuno og lakaw si [Carumba], gibiyaan iyang motor. Mura’g gi-alimungawan siya ba. Unya mao to nadunggan ni Tuliran na naay mi-paka,” said Bastes.
Carumba’s family were later notified of the incident and his remains were turned over to them.
Police meanwhile continued their investigation on the incident to identify the driver.
“Sa pagkakaron, gakamulo pa og follow-up bahin sa pangahitabo,” said Bastes. (A. Doydora with C. Remolador)
