A 56-year-old Russian national died after scuba diving in waters off Balicasag Island in Panglao on Sunday morning.
Alexey Sergeev suffered a cardiac arrest while on board a yacht immediately after surfacing from the sea, said Staff Sgt. Aldrin Cuervo of the Panglao Police Station.
Sergeev was rushed to the Ace Medical Center in Tagbilaran City where doctors tried to revived him but he was later declared dead.
“Conscious pas siya pag tunga gikan sa tubig paghuman ga lisod og ginhawa mao to ilang gi oxygen unya gida nila sa Alona Beach samtang continuous ilang CPR hantod sa gida sa hospital,” said Cuervo.
Sergeev went diving with 18 other Russians, two Egyptians and one Spanish national.
They were billeted in Cebu and went on a side trip to Balicasag Island on board a rented yacht manned by four Filipino crew members. (AD)
