Police early on Tuesday seized shabu worth P1.7 million allegedly from a 21-year-old student during an anti-drug operation in Tagbilaran City.
In a report, authorities said they arrested Crisanto Pacayde, a resident of Barangay Mansasa and a beneficiary of the government’s Alternative Learning System, after he was caught in the act of selling shabu.
Pacayde had allegedly been monitored to be peddling shabu in the city prompting authorities set up the drug sting.
During the staged drug transaction in Barangay Bool, Pacayde allegedly sold shabu worth P16,000 leading to his immediate arrest.
According to authorities, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit led by Police Captain Yolando Bagotchay, Jr. found more packs of shabu in Pacayde’s possession following his apprehension.
The seized drugs weighed 250 grams and were estimated to be worth P1.7 million.
Police said that Pacayde claimed that he was instructed to deliver the drug stash to a person whose identity was unknown to him.
Pacayde has been placed under police custody pending inquest proceedings and the filing of charges against him for sale and possession of illegal drugs. (wm)
