The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) was recognized as among five top-performing police offices in the country following an assessment of accomplishments in its Oplan Tokhang campaign.
The PRO-7’s inclusion in the list was a result of an evaluation made this week by a team of the National Operation Center from Camp Crame.
The evaluating team also acknowledged the number of “surrenderors†in the region which is at 71,000, one of the highest nationwide.
Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, PRO-7 director, attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of the police offices under his command to implement the government’s intensified drive against illegal narcotics.
However, Taliño admitted that there is still room for improvement while Camp Crame through Director General Ronald “Bato†Dela Rosa ordered the PRO-7 to double its efforts in carrying out Oplan Tokhang.
The directive was issued as part of the government’s vow to eradicate the country’s perennial drug problem within the first six months of the Duterte administration.
The Central Visayas’ record number of “surrenderorsâ€, is comprised of 31,000 self-confessed drug users and pushers from Bohol.
Station chiefs across the province continue to urge drug personalities in their respective areas to surrender and keep their word as they vow to end their involvement in illegal narcotics.
Police in Bohol have been noticing that most of the drug suspects arrested in anti-drug operations have already surrendered through Oplan Tokhang. (Allen Doydora)
