“Bohol’s Father of Tourism Anos Fonacier is gone”. This was the statement of Gov Edgar M. Chatto upon learning of the passing away of the man whose foresight saw the strong potentials of Bohol as a prime tourism destination of the country. Boom Fonacier, son of the late Anos Fonacier informed the governor by phone to relay the sad news.
The 90 year old Fonacier died yesterday in Manila. His date of interment will be announced by his family momentarily.
Gov. Chatto said Boholanos should be thankful to the late Anos Fonacier because his establishment of Bohol Beach Club became the eye opener to the booming tourism industry that we see in our province today.
Many tourism policies, programs and projects crafted at the provincial level were guided by the clear vision of Mr Fonacier on how tourism should be managed in Bohol.
Gov Chatto said that masses will be offered in Bohol and in Manila for the late tourism czar from the Ilocos region who has a big Boholano heart.
