Governor Edgar Chatto announced that a P25-million fund has been allotted for the study on the construction of a third bridge connecting Tagbilaran City and Dauis.
Chatto disclosed during his weekly program “Kita ug ang Gobernador†on Friday that the amount earmarked for the project is already with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
According to the governor, necessary equipment are being prepared as the said fund will soon be used to study and implement the project.
Initial statements indicate that the bridge will connect the Tagbilaran City port to an area near the airport in Panglao which is still under construction.
However, Chatto did not elaborate which exact locations the bridge will connect.
On the same radio program, Chatto thanked the DPWH for its move to implement the bridge project.
He said that initiative will decongest traffic along existing bridges connecting the city and tourism hotspot Panglao Island, the Suarez and Borja Bridges.
The governor speculated that traffic congestion in Tagbilaran City will worsen as the number of vehicles in the province’s capital continues to grow.
He noted that the bridge project will help ease the anticipated traffic problem. (Allen Doydora)Â
