Stunning Miss Angela Bonilla, 24, of Ecuador clinched the “Best in Swimsuit†plum during the swimwear presentation of some 40 hopefuls in the Miss Global 2016, an international pageant, held at the posh Henann Resort, along Alona beach stretch, barangay Tawala in Panglao town last Sunday.
Philippines’ Miss Camilla Hirro, 28, settled for first runner-up and Miss Caitlynn Henry, 18, of Australia, second runner-up in the same contest.
The swimsuit competition, the fourth since the beauty and brain contest was born, was held here for the first time after organizers included Bohol, one of the famous tourist spots in the country. The pageant participated by aspirants from all over the world had its coronation last night at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
The photo shoot of the candidates in their two-piece swimwear was held in the morning along the white powdery stretch of shoreline dubbed Alona beach, wherein the Bohol News Today and Freeman photo-journalist (this writer) was able to participate upon the green light of the hotel management, together with Raul Gatal, a pageant host-blogger and event organizer.
Mayor Nila Paredes Montero, who also attended the presentation, welcomed the holding of the swimsuit segment of the pageant, saying it could boost tourism of this premier tourist town.
When asked what would be the reason why this town attracts activities like this, the mayor said that probably the organizers or tourists in general find uniqueness of Panglao people, who, she said, always wear smile on the faces. And people, like Panglaoanons are always the center of the tourism plus the Boholano hospitality.
Miss Melka Razavi, 27, a candidate from Iran said in exclusive interview that people she met in just two days stint here are friendly and always wear smile.
