Alert level status in Bohol has been downgraded to white from red by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) a month after the Davao City bombing.
The downgrade was directed by the AFP Central Command in Camp Lapu-lapu in Cebu City, said Lieutenant Col. Dodjie Belloga, commander of the Bohol-based 47th Infantry Battalion of the Army.
However, Belloga assured the public that there would be no letup in the 47th IB’s intensified security campaign against terrorist attacks and lawless elements.
Belloga said that they will continue to support police forces in maintaining peace and order and carrying out the government’s anti-drug campaign in accordance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive.
Personnel of the 47th IB will still set up checkpoints in key areas in the province, he added.
The AFP Central Command under Major Gen. Raul Del Rosario is also continuing to gather intelligence reports on possible threats in the region.
Belloga as a ground commander also has the capacity to change alert level status depending on the situation of a specific area.
While there have been no reported terror threats in Bohol, Belloga asked the public to remain vigilant by reporting suspicious activities and personalities to security forces such as the police and military. (Rey Tutas)
