Boholano beneficiaries were blessed with livelihood financial assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). In  two months, a total of ten million seven hundred ninety-six thousand and two hundred eighty-five pesos (P 10, 796,285.00) was recently given to identified farmers, fishermen, and women’s groups with feasible livelihood plans from the different parts of the province.

The DOLE Integrated Livelihood Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) paved the way for thousands of marginalized sector members throughout the Philippines for better financial source and livelihood. With these along the way, DOLE is eager to help those are in need of financial and technical assistance for community-level livelihood.

From September to October this year, LGU-San Miguel had the most associations who received financial grants. Basacan Irrigators Association received P 847,020.00 for a Flat Bed Dryer. With the same project, the Coralis Irrigators Association was granted with P 871, 770.00. Garcia Women’s Association also received P 425,356.00 to fund a Community Rice Mill and Mahayag Women’s Association benefited P 378, 820.00 for meat processing and marketing.

Furthermore, Cogtong Panas Mangrove Planters Association of LGU-Candijay was granted with P 1,654,004.00 for their Mud-Crab culture project and a total of P 788,930.00 was given to Kapunungan sa Mag-uuma sa Remedios of LGU-Danao for a hog-fattening and marketing livelihood.

“We will never stop helping the marginalized sector in our society as long as our financial capability can accommodate. We encourage P.O.s and NGOs to actively support and cooperate DOLE programs and services so that it will also redound to their benefits,” OIC German A. Guidaben of DOLE Bohol said. All of the above-mentioned livelihood projects will be monitored accordingly and the grants will be liquidated.  (Adah Pizana)
