While a hysteria case in a Sagbayan school remains unresolved, 20 students in a private school in Ubay who showed bizarre behavior early on Wednesday were also believed to have been possessed by spirits.
The hysteria in Ubay reportedly started 9:30 a.m. at San Pascual Academy in Barangay San Pascual when a female student allegedly saw a supernatural being. The schoolgirl then fainted.
The hysteria then spread to 19 other female students.
Renato Alacida, Jr., San Pascual village chief, said that based on students’ accounts a supernatural being threatened to kill the first victim before the other schoolgirls started exhibiting violent behavior.
The other female students also fainted while others complained of feeling weak.
They were then rushed to the Don Emilio Del Valle Hospital in Ubay while a mass was held in the school following the incident.
Ubay police led by its chief, Senior Insp. Roland Lavisto, members of the 47th Infantry Battalion and San Pascual barangay officials responded to the group hysteria incident.
Earlier today, an inquiry by the Diocese of Tagbilaran was held at the Japer Memorial High School in Sagbayan after 28 students were believed to have been possessed by spirits starting last month.
Priest Agerio Paña, chancellor of the Diocese of Tagbilaran, said that they had also conducted an exorcism on 20 students in Tagbilaran City two years ago. (Rey Tutas)
