The IT-BPM Industry has grown by leaps and bounds during the last decade with the development expanding beyond the national capital region –in the Next Wave Cities (NWC) and the countryside, spurred by dynamic ICT champions aggregated under the strong support from the national government.

It can be recalled that Tagbilaran was named as one of the NWC emerging location in 2012 as possible future host of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry along with the cities of Batangas City, Cagayan de Oro City, and Dagupan City. Just recently, Tagbilaran City was delisted as part of the Next Wave Cities.

In an effort to address issues and concerns deterring the enhancement of the ICT landscape in the provinceand regain the position of Bohol in the ICT radar, the Provincial Government of Bohol, in partnership with the City Government of Tagbilaran, the Bohol ICT Council, the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industryand other local ICT-BPM Stakeholders will be hosting The Digital Bohol Summit on October 14 & 15, 2016 at Metro Centre Hotel and Panda Tea Garden, respectively.

Key players at the national level will convene to discuss several factors in developing and conceptualizing strategies on how to convince BPO players to set-up business here in the province. The forum will steer the Bohol ICT working committee on possible action areas for the ICT-BPMindustry development to formulate/review policies to ensure the province and city’s competitiveness.

Local innovators and start-up companies who have ICT-BPM driven business ideas, business models, applications and platforms shall be invited to pitch during the breakout sessions with keynote speakers and facilitators in each segment to moderate the sessions.

The Summit’s plenary session seeks to bring together champions of the Information and Communications Technology from public and private sectors to share industry trends and development, understand the challenges, identify and collaborate on ways forward to promote the ICT-BPM industry development, with the goal of generating new investments and creating new jobs for Bohol.

A highlight of the event is the launching of the Digital Bohol Project in coordination with OCEANS 16 (Open Collaboration with East Asia New Champions) Summit organizing committee.

Through this summit, the organizers aim to rise up to the challenge of building a strong partnership between national ICT-BPM players and local stakeholders and generating support in regaining Bohol’s position as an attractive location particularly Tagbilaran City as an ICT-BPM hub in the country.
