Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato†Dela Rosa on Monday bared that Kerwin Espinosa, a suspected drug lord in Eastern Visayas, was arrested in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
In a press conference in Camp Crame, Quezon City, Dela Rosa said that coordination between the Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization), the Philippine National Police-Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (PNP-AIDG) and the Anti-Illegal Drugs Group of the Abu Dhabi Police resulted to the arrest of Espinosa in the still unidentified specific place in Abu Dhabi.
“Just this morning around 2:00 a.m. our team from Anti-Illegal Drugs Group led by Senior Supt. Albert Ferro in coordination with Criminal Investigation Division of Abu Dhabi police arrested the drug lord Kerwin Espinosa,†Dela Rosa said.
â€So he is now in the custody of the Abu Dhabi police and ready to be shipped by Sr. Supt. Ferro to Manila. I don’t know whether they will finish the documentary requirements today. Perhaps, they may travel tomorrow. If not, it depends on the first available flight right after the suspect is cleared to travel to the Philippines,†he added.
The PNP has a standing warrant of arrest against Espinosa for cases of illegal possession of firearms and illegal drugs in Albuera, Leyte after their house was searched and the firearms and illegal drugs were discovered. (PNA)
