The name of Vice Governor Dionisio has allegedly been used by several groups which have been making rounds in Bohol and, without the government’s directive, accepting invalid nominations of aspirants seeking to be interim barangay captains.

The name of Bohol’s second highest ranking official surfaced during Board Member Ricky Masamayor’s privilege speech on Monday as Balite was linked to the said unofficial operation.

According to Masamayor, several barangay captains in Loon noted that the said groups have claimed to be working under the orders of Balite.

However, Balite denied involvement in the unofficial operation.

Balite said that he has not instructed individuals or groups to conduct the said activity.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) had already issued a warning to the public regarding the groups which are alleged of swindling.

Based on several reports, there are at least three groups in Bohol seeking to swindle those who are interested in becoming the interim barangay captain of their respective villages.

One of the said groups is reportedly named “NICOPHIL” which claimed to have been authorized to accept barangay captain nominees and submit their names to President Rodrigo Duterte.

When their terms end next month, incumbent barangay officials will be replaced by officers-in-charge through the approval of Duterte following the postponement of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and barangay elections to next year.
