The Provincial Board will summon officials of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) and Alburquerque government to clarify the delay in the start of operations of the P300-million sanitary landfill in the town.

Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will request the presence of the said officials before the month ends to gather information on the state of the Albur Cluster Sanitary Landfill (ACSLF), which is a TIEZA project.

The inquiry will still be conducted after former Albur mayor Efren Tungol and son Albur Mayor Elpren Charles issued initial statements regarding the ACSLF’s state during an assembly of the SP Committee of the Whole on Monday.

The elder Tungol said that a five-day dry run in the operations of the ACSLF was already conducted but a maximum of three more months are needed before the sanitary landfill is officially opened.

The SP’s intervention has been prompted by a request from Albur’s Sangguniang Bayan (SB) for action on the the ACSLF’s operations which was submitted to SP Presiding Officer Vice Governor Dionisio Balite.

Speaking as part of the Albur SB, Vice Mayor Cayetona Doria, for his part, said that SP’s intervention is intended to bridge the communication gap between the town’s executive and legislative branches in relation to the sanitary landfill.

Doria added that the completion of the project has long been aspired by the 17 clusters which will be served by the ACSLF. (Rey Tutas)
