A notorious thief in the city was arrested after he was allegedly caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera stealing from a store owner in Tamblot St., Barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City.

Police identified the suspect as Jonathan Araco, 27, a resident of the said area.

According to victim Tifany Damayo, 27, her Sony Xperia T3 cellphone worth P10,000 which was being charged on top of a table in her store got lost while she was attending to a customer.

Damayo immediately reviewed footage from the store’s CCTV camera and saw that her phone was grabbed by a man which police identified as Araco.

Personnel of the city police theft and robbery section PO2 Junrey Narciso, PO3 Selvan Palacio and SPO3 Menillo Sevilla then conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the Araco at his residence.

Police were able to recover the stolen cellular phone.

Araco is held at the detention facility of the Tagbilaran City police pending the filing of charges against him. (Wellie Maestrado)
