The local government unit (LGU) of Tubigon plans to build a 4000-square meter bus terminal which will cater to the town’s commuters particularly boat passengers going through its seaport.

According to Tubigon Vice Mayor Billy Fortrich, the LGU will be allocating P21 million for the construction of the bus terminal which will be located in Barangay Potohan of said town.

Fortrich said that the plan has been driven by the growing number of vehicles that cause traffic in the central district of the town where public vehicles such as jeeps and buses park.

Business establishments have also continued to sprout in the first class municipality including Alturas and BQ stores and fast food chains which draw many people, added Fortrich.

The LGU projected that the bus terminal would decongest said areas which often become busier when boats arrive in the town’s pier.

The 21-million fund for the project which was already being mulled since the previous Tubigon administration will be acquired by the LGU through a loan from the Land Bank of the Philippines.

Fortrich is optimistic that it would not be long before construction commences as the land for the facility has already been readied. (Allen Doydora)
