The Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion (IB) stationed in Bohol will sustain its implementation of tight security measures even as the province has been cleared of Abu Sayyaf presence, a military official said.
Lieutenant Col. Dodjie Belloga, commander of the 47th IB, on Monday allayed fears that members of the bandit group have made their way into the province.
He assured the public that they have been monitoring port areas and shores in the province since reports of Abu Sayyaf bandits entering Cebu spread to law enforcers.
However, the region was already cleared of the presence of Abu Sayyaf members by the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) a day after it issued the alert on October 24.
But the PRO-7 told policemen under the office and the public to remain vigilant and not be complacent.
According Belloga, monitoring operations will continue even as the perceived threat has been put to rest.
The Army official said that they will maintain support for the police in their law enforcement duties as the country remains under a state of lawlessness mainly due to the bombing in Davao City early in September.
Belloga also urged the public to report suspicious activities and personalities to the army and law enforcers in efforts to prevent terrorist attacks. (Rey Tutas)Â
