A house along P. Castillo St., Purok 1, Brgy. Dao in Tagbilaran City was allegedly broken into by a burglar who carted away jewelry and gadgets worth over P1 million on Monday.
The burglary reportedly took place while the house was empty as the owner Julieta Dela Torre, 39, was away.
According to the victim’s brother, Ramel Dela Torre, he saw that the sliding door at the back of the house was forcibly opened.
This prompted him to check the premises as he knew that his sister was in Panglao.
Based on the home owner’s report to personnel of the theft and robbery section of the Tagbilaran City police, an Apple iPad 2 and assorted sets of gold jewelry were stolen.
For his part, Tagbilaran City police chief Supt. Nicomedes Olaivar told the public to be wary of burglaries particularly on All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days as houses are often empty.
He asked that if possible, houses should not be left with no one around. (Willy Maestrado)
