A policeman whose gun ended up with an arrested suspect linked to alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa will file a theft complaint against his stepfather for purportedly stealing said firearm.
PO1 Randy Itong of the Balilihan police said that his .45 caliber pistol was stolen by his stepfather Efren Pablo who reportedly sold the firearm to drug suspect Victor Aguilar.
Aguilar who was nabbed by National Bureau of Investigation agents last week in a buy-bust operation had also tagged Pablo as the seller of the said handgun.
He noted that Pablo sold him the gun for P11,0000.
Itong on Monday told DYRD Balita that he will be filing the case against his stepfather to clear his name amid suspicion that he is linked to Aguilar.
He narrated that his house in Barangay Mansasa, Tagbilaran City was burgled on April 11, 2015 but he failed to notice that his gun was missing.
According to the policeman, he only found out that the firearm was not in his house as he was about to clean it on April 17, 2015.
He then reported it stolen at the Tagbilaran City Police Station on the same day as indicated by a police blotter entry.
Itong, who was at the time assigned to the Corella Police Station, did not suspect then that Pablo stole his gun.
He said that he only knew of his stepfather’s involvement after he asked Aguilar how his gun ended up with the drug suspect.

On October 25, 2016, Aguilar was arrested together with Marlowe Dano by NBI agents.
Itong knew of his gun’s confiscation through a Facebook post of radio broadcaster Nestor Daarol who featured the photo of said gun and its serial number. (Allen Doydora)
