A businessman was gunned down by unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Barangay Taloto, Tagbilaran City.
Police said that 39-year-old Paulino Butal, owner of the PCCK Sand and Gravel Supply and Construction, was shot multiple times while he was standing with his wife Kristine at a side street beside PMI Colleges.
The two suspects who were on board a red and black Suzuki Raider reportedly passed by the Butals before making a U-turn for the passenger gunman to alight and repeatedly shoot the victim.
Paulino Butal reportedly tried to escape but fell down after running for a few meters due to the multiple gunshot wounds he sustained.
The motorcycle driver then pulled out his firearm and also shot the victim to apparently finish him off before the suspects, clad in jackets and helmets, fled towards the central part of Barangay Taloto.
Scene of the Crime Operatives said  that the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds in his body and head.
Prior to the incident, Paulino Butal received a death threat for an unknown reason, said one of the victim’s siblings.
According to police, the incident may have been business-related, but Tagbilaran City police chief Supt. Nicomedes Olaivar said that they will still conduct further investigation to identify the motive and suspects. (Willie Maestrado with reports from Allen Doydora)
