The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) received Wednesday a new list of government officials linked to the illegal drug trade with Kerwin Espinosa, son of slain Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa, Sr.

The list was contained in the three new affidavits voluntarily submitted to DILG by the slain mayor’s lawyer.

In a press encounter Wednesday, DILG undersecretary and chairperson of Task Force Agila John Castriciones said that the lawyer of Mayor Espinosa voluntarily came over to submit some documents with the lists of the names of government officials involved in illegal drug operations.

The DILG official said that the lawyer submitted the affidavit minutes before the briefing was started.

Castriones decline to name the lawyer for security reason.

“These documents have been submitted to inform the task force about these so-called manifestations and allegations made by Mayor Espinosa,” he said.

He also said that upon first perusal of the documents, they identified prominent and well-known names of personalities which is not completely reviewed because of its early submission.

“At this point in time, we need to evaluate and peruse the said documents carefully in order to make necessary actions that the Task Force Agila will undertake,” the official said.

Castriciones also said the three affidavits would be compared in the first submitted document of the Mayor, which included over 250 names of government officials.

When asked on the prominent names, he said that one senator was included on the new affidavit.

He also added that the three new affidavits would served as ‘collaborative evidence’ of the Task Force against the younger Espinosa, who is also linked in illegal drug operations.(PNA)
