A man driving a tourist van along Barangay Totolan, Dauis was shot dead at 6:15 p.m by two motorcycle-riding assailants.
Police identified the victim as Ernesto Sapaqueña, 50, a resident of Purok 7, Barangay Tawala, Panglao.
According to police, Sapaqueña was driving a Nissan Escapade tourist van along the national road in Sitio Basak in Dauis and heading towards Panglao when the suspects caught up with the victim.
The motorcycle then moved closer to the van while one of the suspects shot at the victim twice.
Scene of the Crime Operatives said that Sapaqueña sustained a gunshot wound in his chin while the bullet exited through the back of his head.
No other injuries were reported.
According to Dauis police chief Inspector Gerald Luna, they are still identifying the motive behind Sapaqueña’s killing.
Police continue to conduct further investigation while the victim’s body was transported to a funeral parlor in Tagbilaran City. (Weli Maestrado)
