The Tagbilaran City Council approved on third and final reading the proposed P907.7-million budget during its regular session today.
According to Councilor Dodong Gonzaga, next year’s budget is P65 million higher than the 2016 allocation which was at P842.7 million.
Gonzaga told DYRD Balita that a large chunk of the budget will primarily be funneled to the social services, infrastructure, education and health sectors, among others.
In the same session, councilors also approved the city government’s P2.3 billion budget for the annual investment plan for 2017.
Prior to the approval, planning and development officer Engr. Estella Margate said that the budget will mainly be earmarked for big-ticket projects.
Margate cited road concreting and construction of an evacuation center, the Bohol Friendship Park, and the Tagbilaran City College as among priority projects.
Study on the viability of a mass transport system and the closure of the dumpsite in Barangay Dampas were also highlighted as among top budget concerns for City Hall. (Allen Doydora)
