Fire razes house, leaves P100T in property damage

The ancestral home of one Marilyn Amodia catches fire at 11:37 a.m. on Monday in Ubay.

A fire on Monday morning razed a house along Barangay Poblacion, Ubay leaving around P100,000 in property damage.

According to Ubay police chief Senior Insp. Roland Desiree Lavisto, the fire lasted for almost an hour but no one was injured.

Lavisto said that the fire burned down the ancestral home of one Marilyn Amodia who now lives abroad.

The fire reportedly broke out at 11:37 a.m. and was declared under control at 12:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, a man who was allegedly seen to have come out from the said house prior to the incident was brought in for questioning.

Lavisto identified the man as Donnie Ray Reyes, 31, a resident of Fatima, Ubay.

According to Lavisto, authorities will still have to conduct further investigation to identify the cause of the fire. (Rey Tutas)
