Ubay honors Sto. Niño on Friday

UBAY. .- All roads lead to this progressive town as it will celebrate Friday the Annual Fiesta of her Patron, the Most Venerated Holy Child Jesus.

Mayor Constantino H. Reyes, Vice Mayor Nelson L. Uy, members of the Sanggunian Bayan and second district Rep. Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado will be on hand to welcome guests, visitors, fiesta revelers from all walks of life including balikbayans.

Mons. Patrick Daniel Y. Parcon, D.D., bishop of Diocese of Talibon will be the main celebrant of the Pontifical Mass to start at 9:00 AM with more than 30 visiting clergies joining the liturgical rites, according to Parish Vicar Rev. Fr. Adolfo Dagohoy.

As in the past years, except on Vesper Day, Novenario and Mass are held at 4:00 AM to enable businessmen, teachers, office workers, students among others to attend the same without sacrificing their hours of duty, fiesta organizers explained.

Opening salvo of the nightly cultural presentations was a Variety Show, courtesy of the Alturas Group of Companies then followed by the BNSC Night.  Friday night had the Holy Child Academy presenting the King and Queen coronation.

The First Mayor’s Cup Karatedo Invitational Championship was held in the morning at the Ramon Magsaysay gym Saturday then in the evening was the presentation from the Sacred Heart Learning and Formation Center.

A two-day basketball tournament dubbed as Mayor Costan Reyes – Sto. Niño Commercial Cup reeled off Sunday afternoon with four teams vying for the great prize.  The UPPC had a Concert for a Cause in the evening, featuring Kurt Philip, Jr Hashtag Kiel and Kristan Luke.

The Commercial league resumed Monday afternoon while the teachers showcased their variety of talents during the DepEd Night.  The Search for Miss Ubay 2017 by the Rotary Club of Ubay took center stage last night then tonight the UPPC will once again present the Ubay Prince and Princess of 2017.

A fluvial procession will bring the image of St. Sto. Nino on board a motorbanca owned by businessman Ronald Bacolod  tomorrow to start at 9:00am.  More than 20 seacrafts with devotees onboard are expected to join the same.  Somewhere in the UCES Oval grounds will be the spectacular and exciting Rodeo thru the auspices of the Phil. Carabao Center under Center Chief, Dr. Caro Salces.

A group of young ladies competing for the Matahum an Ubay will highlight the Vesper Eve presentation.  This is being presented by the ABC under Liga ng Barangay Federated president Violeta Diangco Reyes.  The winner of this maiden beauty pageant will represent Ubay in the forthcoming Bohol Sandugo in Tagbilaran City, according to Matahum organizers chaired by Ms. Arlene Reyes Cuyno.

Presentations on Feastday would include: Church Sinulog; Ubay-Ubay Street Dancing Festival; Engkwentro sa Ubay (Boxing); Fireworks Display and the LGU Ballroom-Disco with Rock Against Drug Concert (Live Bands).

Added attraction on Post-Fiesta in the HCHA-Ubay Alumni Assn. Homecoming on Saturday at the school’s quadrangle.
