Another woman was victimized by male and female suspects through a card-switching modus operandi, the second of a similar incident reportedly perpetrated in a single day.

The victim, 56-year-old Milagros Rosel Nguho, a resident of Cortes, Bohol who allegedly lost P30,000 due to the scheme reported the incident to authorities on Monday.

The victim narrated to police that after she withdrew P20,000 from a BPI automated teller machine (ATM) on Saturday at the BQ Mall in Tagbilaran City, a man who was with a woman bumped against her.

Nguho’s debit card reportedly fell and was picked up the male suspect as he handed it over to the victim.

However, Nguho said that it was only on the next day that she realized that she had been a victim of a card-switching modus as the debit card she was holding was owned by one Simprosa Enario.

She also checked the validity of the card at an ATM but this was not accepted by the machine.

Upon consulting the bank, Nguho found out that the remaining P30,000 in her account had already been withdrawn.

Another similar incident which was allegedly also perpetrated by male and female suspects took place on the same day near a BDO ATM at the Island City Mall.

Following the incident, police who are continuing their investigations on the crimes urged the public to be vigilant against suspicious personalities and the card-switching modus. (Weli Maetsrado)
