A school principal in Candijay was killed after being hit by a motorcycle at past 7 p.m. on Thursday along the national road in Purok 7, Barangay Bood, Ubay.
Police identified the victim as 53-year-old Sadraccch Bernales, Sr., the principal of the La Union High School and a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Alicia.
As indicated in the Ubay police blotter, Bernales was walking at the side of the highway but suddenly tried to cross to the opposite side causing a Honda Wave motorcycle traversing the national road to hit the victim.
Police said that the motorcycle was driven by one Raymuno Boyles, 41, who had a passenger identified as 67-year-old Teodoro Boyles, the driver’s father.
Bernales was reportedly rushed to the Don Emilio Del Valle Memorial Hospital in Ubay.
However, the victim was shortly after transferred to a hospital in Tagbilaran City where he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, the Boyleses also suffered injuries and were taken to a hospital. They are now in stable condition, according to physicians. (Rey Tutas)
