A 36-year-old construction worker was shot and killed in Barangay Puting Bato, Buenavista at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Victim Jessie B. Versaga, a resident of said village, was found dead at 6 a.m. on Sunday after he was shot in the head and various parts of his body, police said.
Based on initial investigation of Buenavista police, Versaga came from Sagbayan on board a motorcycle driven by one Michael Ramirez who dropped the victim off near his residence prior to the shooting.
Police reportedly recovered nine spent shells from a .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene.
According to Buenavista police chief Insp. Vincent Tamboboy, a friend of the Versaga is being eyed as a suspect in the killing.
However, Tamboboy did not disclose the identity of the suspect as investigators continue their probe and the alleged killer who reportedly was in conflict with the victim remains at large.
The rift between Versaga and the suspect is now being considered as possible motive behind the murder.
Tamboboy also said that the suspect is also a resident of Buenavista and is a suspect and other shootings in the town.
While the manhunt is ongoing, charges are likely to be filed against the suspect in the coming days. (Allen Doydora)
