The reported presence of 15 fully armed men earlier perceived to be the re-entry of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Bohol was denied by the Philippine National Police (PNP)

Police Senior Inspector Erenieto Feniza, PNP station commander of Danao clarified to the Chronicle yesterday the reported alleged sightings of 15 fully armed men in  barangay  San Miguel, Danao was mistakenly seen as members of the New People’s Army.

During his investigation of the alleged sightings, it was found out later that the 15 armed men seen by barrio folks in barangay San Miguel were actually members of Philippine Army who were in joint patrol operation with the Regional Public Safety  Battalion 

He corrected earlier reports stating that some of the armed men were bringing AK-47, the firearm identified with the NPAs. The informant was imagining things since it’s already quite long since they last saw armed men in the barangays, the PNP chief said.

The Philippine Army informed him later that one section of troopers was conducting the patrol from barangay San Miguel to barangay San Carlos sometime in the last week of February this year,

This was the group of armed men seen by the residents who relayed the info to the Danao PNP headquarters.
