A ranking police officer assigned at Camp Dagohoy was dismissed from the service while two others were relieved from their posts due to reasons that raised some speculations amidst the relentless campaign against drugs.

Police Chief Inspector Rolando Antipolo, chief of the intelligence branch of the Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial command was dismissed from the service by the Ombudsman while Tagbilaran City chief, Police Supt. Nicomedes Olaivar, Jr. and Inabanga police chief,  Police Senior Inspector Marcos Lopez were relieved from their present positions.

The Ombudsman’s dismissal order for Antipolo was issued last week based on the findings implicating him to a case while he was still assigned in Cebu.

Olaivar was transferred to Sultan Kudarat while Lopez was moved to Antequera town.

The transfer of City Police Chief Olaivar came as a surprise as the city PNP chief was a known drug buster even before the assumption of the Duterte administration. He even figured in a controversial transfer move by then PNP Regional Director Garbo who was later on named by President Duterte as a drug protector.

Olaivar was moved outside the province due to his relentless campaign against drugs. He was later on reassigned back to the province after lobbied for by top government officials who found him as a genuine fighter against drugs.

When asked to comment on his sudden transfer, Olaivar said he became a victim of a massive mis-representation in connection with the gruesome murder of lawyer Manuelita Mascariñas Green. 

He said that if ever it was because of the lawyer’s murder, he was not given the chance to be heard on whatever allegation’s hurled against him.

Olaivar received commendations from city officials during a despedida party last night at the Bohol Tropics.

Lopez, for his part, was relieved as station commander of Inabanga town after he was noted to be ineffective in the war against drugs. PNP Prov’l Director Felipe Natividad transferred Lopez to Antequera town.

REPLACEMENTS

Police Supt. Patricio Degay, Jr, will assume tomorrow as the new Tagbilaran City police chief to replace Olaivar’s vacant position.

Degay is the former officer-in-charge of the provincial SWAT based at Camp Dagohoy.

Meanwhile, Police Supt. Rene Quiamco replaced Degay at the provncial PNP command. 

Prov’l Director Natividad said he will announce shortly the new PNP Inabanga station commander to replace Lopez.
