Barangay San Isidro, bagged four, out of six minor awards, aside from grabbing the grand champion award of the 2017 Saulog Street Dancing Showdown that gave color to this year’s city fiesta celebration last Monday.

Barangay San Isidro won P150,000 cash aside from other prizes it received for being adjudged as Best in Choreography, Best in Music, Best in Street Dancing and Best in Field Performance. 

Poblacion 3 landed second with P100,000 cash reward followed by Barangay Tiptip, 3rd with P80,000; Barangay Taloto, 4th with P50,000 and Barangay Cogon, 5th with P10,000

The cash and other awards were presented by Mayor Baba Yap and First Lady Jane Cajes-Yap during the colorful presentation at the CPG Sports Complex last Monday. 

Cabinet Sec. Leoncio “Jun” Evasco who was the keynote speaker, extended the felicitations from Pres. Duterte who himself is fascinated on the rich cultural heritage of the Boholanos.  He congratulated Mayor Yap for his excellent leadership which paved the way for the good infrastructure project implementation as well as fiscal management.  He took note of the excellent production value of Saulog which he said is of global standard.

He rallied the Boholanos to always remain grounded on their faith while nurturing spirituality first and foremost. 

For his part, Gov. Edgar Chatto in his brief remarks said the presentation of Saulog as a whole is a projection of  the quality of performance the city government has even in terms of cultural presentation. He admitted the city government to be “ahead of the provincial government” in terms of production of Saulog. He is confident that Saulog will soon become a byword among festivals in the country  if its support will be consistent, year after year.
