A 59-year-old man remained in critical condition after reportedly hanging himself with a rope outside his house in Loay on Wednesday.
According to witnesses, Antonio Disquez, a resident of Barangay Yanangan, Loay, was found hanging from a tree at around 5 p.m.
Disquez reportedly was in a drinking session prior to the suspected suicide attempt.
Friends of Disquez said that the victim told them of his plan to commit suicide but the statement was not taken seriously.
Several minutes after, Disquez was reportedly seen hanging from a tree behind his house.
One of the victim’s neighbors then slashed the rope to free Disquez who was rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City where he continues to be treated.
Meanwhile, Loay police investigators are still set to conduct a probe as the incident was not yet officially reported to their station.
Witnesses and neighbors of the victim were unaware if Disquez was distressed and on what may have caused the alleged suicide attempt. (AD)
