An elusive ex-convict was shot by police after allegedly resisting arrest during an anti-drug operation along the Circumferential Road in Poblacion 3, Tagbilaran City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Suspect Felros Polinar, 39, reportedly sustained two gunshot wounds in his left shoulder and waist, and was rushed to a hospital where he was treated.
In a report, police indicated that Polinar was subjected to a buy-bust operation wherein an undercover cop bought shabu from the suspect.
However, Polinar reportedly grew suspicious of the staged transaction prompting him to pull out his firearm but police operatives on standby around the buy-bust area immediately responded.
The policemen were able to fire two shots which hit their mark allowing them to subdue the armed suspect.
The Tagbilaran City police anti-narcotics team led by Sr. Insp. Erano Regidor recovered a .22 magnum revolver, a .22 caliber rifle with an attached scope and silencer and plastic sachets of shabu from the suspect.
Packets of confiscated drugs were estimated to be worth P59,000.
According to Regidor, the suspect was listed in the Tagbilaran City police’s drug watch list.
Three attempts to arrest Polinar had been previously launched but the suspect always managed to escape, added Regidor.
Polinar is now detained at the Tagbilaran City lock-up jail while authorities are preparing to file gun and drug charges against him. (W. Maestrado)
