Speaking before a gathering of mostly Environmental Planners from all over the country, Governor Edgar M. Chatto reveals that strong adherence to the principles of sustainable development was key to Bohol’s fast recovery from the Great Earthquake.
The Governor made his remark during the Regional Forum on Urban Planning and Sustainable Tourism last July 27-29, 2017 at the Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City, hosted by the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP) Bohol Chapter with the theme; Sustainable Tourism Amidst a Changing Climate.
In his inspirational message, Chatto emphasized that long before the 2013 earthquake, Bohol has already been doing planning activities that came up with the three pillars in the engine for growth and development in the province of Bohol.
These are eco-cultural tourism, agri-industrial development, and Information, communication technology (ICT) which were all meant to complement each other and enable the formulation of a sustainable tourism development plan which Bohol is implementing at present. Gov. Chatto also shared to the participants his dream of Bohol becoming the first digital province in the country in the near future.
The PIEP Bohol Chapter is headed by its dynamic President, EnP. Efren Logrono, who is also the Regional President and National Auditor of the League of the Local Planning & Development Coordinators of the Philippines. (EnP. Benito M. Ricalde, Jr. PIEP-PRO)
