A raid conducted by police operatives in Barangay Limocon-Ilaud, Dimiao yielded a gun and packets of suspected shabu at dawn on Tuesday.

Joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Dimiao police bearing a search warrant for illegal guns raided the home of suspect Romeo Boyles, 50, at 4 a.m.

In a report, police indicated that they found a .38 caliber revolver with no serial number as they served the warrant issued by Judge Lindecita Arcamo, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 50 in Loay.

The gun was loaded with two bullets while Boyles was unable to present legal documents for the said firearm, according to police.

Meanwhile, the search team also allegedly found two packets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia inside the suspect’s house.

According to Dimiao police chief SPO4 Simporiano Simbajon, Boyles was not included in their watch list of drug personalities.

Simbajon explained that Dimiao’s drug-free status was declared prior to the identification of Boyles as a drug suspect.

The recent development and statements from Boyles noting that there are still other drug personalities in the town prompted police to reassess the status of narcotics trade in the municipality.

Dimiao, Batuan and Sevilla were the first Bohol towns to be declared cleared of illegal drug activities by their Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (MADAC).

However, drug-free status declared by a MADAC is still up for verification by a regional oversight committee led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). (Weli Maestrado)
