A man listed in the Bohol Provincial Police Office’s (BPPO) drug watch list was allegedly caught with a large stash of shabu worth almost P1 million during a police anti-drug operation in Tagbilaran City on Thursday night.
According to BPPO Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) chief Sr. Insp. Jojit Mananquil, the seized drugs weighed 80 grams with an estimated street value of P993,000.
The PIB was not expecting to recover a large amount of drugs from suspect Arnel Nofies, 43.
Mananquil who led the operation said that he was surprised with the million-peso drug supply found in the possession of Nofies who was also allegedly caught with a .38 revolver loaded with six bullets.
Nofies, a resident of Barangay Cabawan in Tagbilaran City, was then elevated as a high value target due to the large amount of drugs seized from him.
In a report, police indicated that Nofies was caught in the act of selling illegal drugs.
He was was subjected to a buy-bust operation by joint police operatives of the PIB and the Tagbilaran City Police Office.
During the sting operation, the suspect allegedly sold shabu worth P500 to a police-poseur buyer leading to his immediate arrest.
According to Mananquil, Nofies is now detained at Camp Dagohoy in Tagbilaran City.
Charges for possession of illegal drugs and firearm and sale of illegal drugs will be filed against the suspect. (WM)
