A fisherman was arrested by police on Friday morning for alleged peddling of illegal drugs in the island barangay of Banacon in Getafe town.

Suspect Jolard Paden, 48, was collared by anti-narcotics operatives of the Getafe police at 11 a.m.

Paden, a resident of Banacon, was subjected to a buy-bust operation led by Getafe police chief Sr. Insp. Gereon Item and conducted in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

In a report, the Getafe police said that Paden sold shabu worth P300 to a police poseur-buyer leading to his immediate arrest.

Six more packets of shabu were then found in the suspect’s possession upon his arrest.

The seized drugs were estimated to be worth P2,000, police said.

Paden is now detained at the lock-up jail of the Getafe Police Station while authorities prepare to file charges against him for violations against RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (RT)
