Burglars hit 2 Bohol schools

The Lourdes Elementary School in Cortes was allegedly broken into by an unidentified burglar in the wee hours of Thursday.

Two more schools in Bohol were hit by still unidentified burglars in Cortes and Baclayon in what were the third and fourth reported school break-ins in the province this month.

According to Cortes police, two laptops were stolen from the Lourdes Elementary School in the said town by breaking into the principal’s office where the devices were kept.

The break-in was reportedly discovered by school employees at around 7 a.m. on Thursday.

Based on initial police investigation, the suspect removed the jalousie blades from the back part of the principal’s office allowing the burglar to swipe the electronic devices.

Both laptops were donated school property, police said.

No possible suspects have been identified by authorities who had also noted that the crime was likely carried out in the wee hours of Thursday.

Police also pointed out that the school had no security guard and no closed-circuit television camera installed within its campus.

On Wednesday, some seven km from Cortes the Montaña Elementary School in Baclayon was also broken into by a still unidentified burglar.

According to PO1 Roldan Galo, school authorities found out of the burglary at around 7 a.m. on the same day.

The suspect reportedly broke into three classrooms by removing jalousie blades.

However, the burglar was only able to take P100 cash as all of the school’s equipment were accounted for.

Earlier this month, Cebu Sacred Heart College and Mansasa Elementary School in Tagbilaran City were broken into by burglars who carted away cash, laptops and a microscope.

A suspect who is of minor age had already been arrested for the Mansasa school break-in while the stolen items were already recovered by police. (Allen Doydora)
