The Diocese of Tagbilaran on Friday echoed an exorcist priest’s call for vigilance against the spread of satanic rosaries throughout the country.
Fr. Agerio Paña, chancellor of the Tagbilaran diocese, urged the Catholic faithful to be wary of satanic rosaries and other religious items as these may appear the same as their normal counterparts.
According to Paña, satanic rosaries are often made of plastic and have obscure images.
These items which are often found with images of a snake wrapped around the cross or a sun with rays were spread by satanic groups now operating in the country, said Paña.
These organizations have reportedly been mobilizing and gaining followers in America and Europe.
Meanwhile, Paña warned to never be in possession of such items urging the public to carefully examine rosaries and buy these at reliable stores.
He then called on the Catholic faithful to surrender to the Church religious items that appear “satanic”
Earlier this week, Diocese of Novaliches Office of Exorcism (Libera Nox) chief exorcist Fr. Ambrosio Nonato Legaspi, made the warning against these rosaries which were “prayed over” by its makers, consecrating them to evil.
“These were made not only to be simply given away but to deceive Catholics, so that evil spirits will haunt them,” Legaspi was quoted in a report of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) news site, cbcpnews.net.
However, the CBCP had clarified that Legaspi’s statements were his own and not the official stand of the entire organization.
“The CBCP Media Office has clarified that Fr. Ambrosio Nonato Legaspi was speaking as head of the diocese of Novaliches office of exorcism (Libera Nox) and not for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines,” a statement posted in CBCP news site reads. (R. Tutas)
