A drug personality tagged by police as a high-value target in their campaign against narcotics activities was arrested along with a newly identified drug suspect in Tagbilaran City on Wednesday night.

Police identified the said target as Ryan “Ering” Barol, 35, and the other suspect as Joshua Lungog, 22, both residents of Barangay Taloto in Tagbilaran.

In a report, police noted that they spotted Barol selling illegal drugs in Purok 2 of the said village prompting authorities to set up a drug buy-bust operation against the suspect.

According to police, Barol sold shabu worth P500 to an undercover cop but later on noticed that he was the subject of a sting operation.

Barol then reportedly attempted to escape but was eventually cornered by backup units of the Tagbilaran police’s intelligence section.

Meanwhile, Lungog, reportedly a son of a local police chief, was also taken into police custody as he was with Barol during the operation.

In the same report, police indicated that five grams of shabu with an estimated worth of P59,000 and sealed in 14 packets were found in the suspects’ possession as they were arrested.

Charges for possession of illegal drugs will be filed against both suspects, while for Barol, an additional case for sale of illegal drugs will be lodged against him, police said. (Weli Maestrado)
